Luthando Kaka is a purpose-driven leader whose journey seamlessly bridges elite sport, business leadership, and social impact. As Co-Founder and Director of Ride4Hope Foundation, he plays a pivotal role in advancing initiatives that use cycling as a vehicle for education, community upliftment, and meaningful change across South Africa.
A former professional cyclist, Luthando built his career competing at the highest levels of the sport. He captained the Bonitas Cycling Team, demonstrating not only athletic excellence but also strong leadership and team-building capabilities. His professional racing career extended internationally, with two years competing in Denmark within the UCI circuit—an experience that sharpened his discipline, resilience, and global perspective on sport development.
Beyond competition, Luthando has remained deeply committed to the growth of cycling at grassroots level. He serves as a Board Member of Velokhaya Life Cycling Academy, one of the country’s leading sport development institutions. In this role, he contributes to shaping pathways for young athletes, ensuring that sport becomes a gateway to opportunity, education, and personal growth.
Complementing his sporting and developmental work, Luthando holds an MBA from Henley Business School. His academic journey has equipped him with strategic insight and governance expertise, strengthening his ability to lead impactful organisations with sustainability and accountability at their core.
Through Ride4Hope Foundation, Luthando continues to champion the power of sport as a catalyst for transformation. His work reflects a deep belief that success is not only measured by performance, but by the opportunities created for others to thrive.
