Embracing Freedom on Wheels: Honoring Nelson Mandela's Legacy with a Bicycle Ride4Hope:
Riding has always been synonymous with freedom – especially when one rides for fun as opposed to professional competitions. In South Africa, there is – arguably – no name that is more synonymous with freedom as that of struggle icon Nelson Mandela. For that reason, it therefore seems apt to honour Nelson Mandela’s Centenary Celebration with a bicycle ride.
Empowering Education: Ride4Hope's Impactful Stop at Impucuko Primary School
American Tower Corporation South Africa (ATC SA) in partnership with Deviare and Ride4hope
launched one of a kind Digital Skills and Business incubation programme at Impucuko Primary, Bethlehem.
Impucuko primary, where a number of post matric, unemployed youth will benefit in the Digital Skills and business incubation programme,
which will provide assistance and capacitating of entrepreneurs in the region and also further add to the Digital Villages programme ran by ATC
in the African continent.
ATC has committed to the programme for two years with the first cohort of 2023 launched and will further invest in the next group in 2024.
10 Year Remembrance
To honor the indomitable spirit of our nation’s icon, Nelson Mandela, Ride4Hope proudly presents a limited edition 10-year commemorative jersey in conjunction with the Nelson Mandela Foundation and CIOVITA. As we celebrate Madiba’s enduring legacy, R500 from each jersey purchase will be donated to Nelson Mandela Foundation’s transformative efforts in using cycling to create positive change in lives.
As part of the 10 year remembrance of Nelson Mandela,
“It is in your hands.”
Now, more than ever, humanity needs to look at climate change, persistent and increasing levels of poverty as well as inequality. This Nelson Mandela International Day 2023, it is the vision of the Nelson Mandela Foundation for the world to unite and act decisively against the
intersection of climate change and food insecurity. Our Outreach programme has embarked on long-term and sustainable interventions which equip communities to take climate action that ensures food security.
Together with global partners, the programme has championed national effort to capacitate as many home-based and community food gardens as possible, whilst planting one million trees, 60% of which are fruit trees. As we mark the 10th year remembrance of Nelson Mandela, may we all remember that the legacy lives through us.
1st July 2023, Johannesburg. The Nelson Mandela Foundation, Ride4hope and Ciovita will be hosting a ride to launch the Jersey on this important month.
